the book's key points
The Beauty Queen's Guide to World Peace
reveals a number of quite new and telling points:
- The historical record shows that the UN began as the formal name of the allied alliance in the Second World
War, not as is commonly assumed at conference in 1945. The Second World War was formally fought by the United
Nations, to which Germany surrendered;
- US missiles are bound for Britain with the offensive capability of shooting down satellites;
- The US is now trapped in two unwinnable infantry wars in Asia- Afghanistan and Iraq;
- Left and Right both underestimate Al Qaeda, which with Middle East oil and Pakistani nukes can bring the fall
of the West;
- The main significance of Al Qaeda is that it is has begun a Guerrilla War in the Global Village;
- Traditional British Army counter-terror policy has been set aside by the government and has never been accepted
in Washington. It emphasises redressing grievances and sticking strictly to the rule of law.
The Atlantic Charter and the UN was the best means of reforming the Westphalian System that so repels and
worries leaders such as Prime Minister Tony Blair. Unilateral action by the West is simply the first act in a
drama that will lead to an unstable world of armed continental blocs.
